Windows XP Embedded and F-Response

Recently we received a customer request asking if F-Response would work on Point of Sale (POS) Terminals running Windows XP Embedded.

Great question! However we don't have any POS Terminals in the lab here so we had to do some digging. As it turns out Microsoft does allow software firms and developers access to an evaluation copy of Windows XP Embedded (Now just called Windows Embedded) for Point of Sale terminals, it's called Windows Embedded POSReady.

Now after much effort getting Windows Embedded POSReady installed on a VMWare Virtual Machine, we were pleasantly surprised to see that all versions of F-Response (Field Kit, TACTICAL, Consultant, and Enterprise) work with Windows Embedded POSReady with the "minimal" build configuration.

It's not suprising really, as Windows Embedded appears to be a stripped down version of Windows XP Professional SP3, however it's always nice to see it on the screen.
