F-Response 4.0.4 and the new Cloud Connector

Jul 24, 2012

With this most recent release of F-Response we have added a completely new capability to the Consultant+Covert and Enterprise versions of F-Response, namely the ability to map remote cloud storage as locally accessible, read-only network shares. Starting with this release the patent pending and aptly named "Cloud Connector" gives F-Response user the ability to "Extend their Arsenal" to cloud storage media.

Using the Cloud Connector is very simple, however as with all F-Response products we've included a video below, updated the manual with specific usage details, and provided three new Mission Guides that outline using the Cloud Connector with the most prevalent cloud providers (Amazon, Rackspace, and HP).

Simply put the F-Response Cloud Connector continues the mission of F-Response, get you to the data, then get out of your way so you can focus on the task at hand. Remember, there is no additional charge or upgrade fee for any new F-Response releases. Current Enterprise and Consultant+Covert customers just "get it" as part of their license.

Now, 4.0.4 also includes new improvements for all F-Response customers, including a greatly enhanced target locating capability. Now F-Response (all versions) will be better able to detect and present non-standard devices on Linux and Apple OSX. This means Linux Logical Volume Management (LVM) devices should be automatically detected and presented as targets, in addition mounted Apple OSX slices and Linux partitions should also be natively available as targets. Of course the new targets are optional and all the prior targets and devices will still be displayed, however we believe the option to attach directly to LVM targets and non-standard devices will be quite useful going forward.

In addition to the above there are a number of minor additional improvements, including exporting to MSI (EE and CE+C), Management Console improvements, signed Apple OSX binaries, improvements to Physical Memory access, etc. You can find a complete list of Release Notes for 4.0.4, along with manuals, and the latest executables on the Downloads page.

Thanks, we appreciate you taking the time to get up to speed with the latest F-Response release. As always please don't hesitate to contact us directly should you have any further questions or concerns.

Enjoy!
